Hi all...apologies for the lack of update of my life :P been really busy since I come bak from my 2nd visit to the community...since then too many things have happened!! Guess wad! I got my car! woot woot! 2004 Nissan Pulsar...yea! I love it...its so different from BXU...I still miss my little white bomb though..but this car can be scarily silent haha...but its good...will post up pics soon :)

among other things I had been given a new community on the Tiwi islands to look after..went out there on wednesday and loved it...very exciting to know that there is work and so much that can be done...like this then u will know that your work is more worth while! :)

too many things have happened since the last post...but I must say I have been through a heck of a journey in the past 3 weeks...My life has turned..but one thing I know for sure...I am keeping on holding onto the promises of the Lord, and walking step by step each day as we go...

It's the long weekend this weekend! hehe...love it...for once! after 6 years! I dun have to study for this weekend!!It feels weird, but good i guess...i am actually enjoying the life of not being a student apart from the fact that I cant take holidays whenever I want to..but hey! Thats what TOIL is for! hehe...

hey all... :)Hope ur wk has been treating you well...apart from the fact that it is not getting any cooler up here, I think I have finally settled down...this week was my week at the office...it was very very boring...bcoz i din have much to do...but I was sent for 4 wheel drive training.. :)

I CAN DRIVE A MANUAL 4WD all by myself!! OFFROAD!! I have never been on a main road in a manual...and only managed to have a couple of lessons before I left...and then drove abit way bak when I was in NZ but never on my own...I prayed and asked God for a miracle in my driving so that I can attend and pass the 4wd training course that was yesterday and today!! and PRaise God...He brought me through...

Apart from that its been jus fantastic being here...been too buggered everyday to do anything else..haha..i guess thats working life aye...I cant sleep in past 8am anymore too!

I am grateful to each and everyone of you for all your continual prayers and support...LET's BREAK GROUND TOGETHER!

First community adventure....

Hey peoples! I just came bak from Borroloola this week, and it has surely been an adventure! I managed to meet all the key people that I needed to meet in order to be able to work with the community and successfully promote nutrition and physical activity in that area.

It is all red sand all over, and yes...my WHITE nike shoes became red haha...and I had red socks too! we sure did heaps of walking...only bcoz we wanted to show people that physical activity can be easily achieved in this little town hehe...

one major thing we did this week was to perform a survey in the stores...and it was so much fun...we took ages in the first shop, but the second shop was just a breeze..only 20 minutes! that kept us busy for the first part of the morning...

I must say though...the highlight of my trip was seeing all the children running all over the place...sad to say...many do not wanna go to school even though its just nearby...they would stay outside the school gates, and not go in...but they are absolutely gorgeous those kids...we were carrying some photographs of events that happened in the past and showing them pictures of different countries in the world...and boy...they were so intrigued...

During this trip, I know that God was with us, and He has really protected us everywhere we went...sometimes..we were really tired, but because we had no transport we had to walk back to our accommodation in the middle of the day, which is when the sun is absolutely beating down, but its during these times that I would pray, and within seconds, somebody from the local clinic will be driving by (it's not coincidence because many do not stop for you even if they know you)...through this simple testimony, God has shown me once again, that no matter how big or how small our situation, He will still meet us at our very present point of need :)

The adventure was sure amazing...and I cant wait for my next trip there again, when I can actually do something with the community folk...and yes...hopefully some really good fishing too!! that's what I have been promised...hehe... :)

Long weekend!! woot woop!!

wow! my second sunday already! before you know it it'll be uncountable sundays... :)
but this doesnt mean that i dun miss the gold coast bcoz i do... very much...but i am loving this long weekend idea...and jus the general idea of bludging on the weekends...very nice I LIKE! :P

its been an excellent week with work, just doing orientations and team planning meetings...got to meet with alot of the people that I will be working with, and looks like I am in for a very steep learning curve..but u noe wad..It will all be worth it in the end aye...and moreover I get paid! So I will not complain..hehe...

I went to the opening of the Mindil beach sunset markets here and it was absolutely beautiful! and the food - man! it made me think of Home...with satay and all..but still..nothing tastes better than the original!! and the sunset was magnificent!! It was indescribable and there were fireworks too!!

To top it all off, I have finally settled into my new flat...Its awesome! am loving it at the moment...the family is spoiling me to bits...like INDIAN food all the way..woot woot!!....

I am gonna try to enjoy the rest of the long weekend by chilling and relaxing in good company, and sleeping when I can...it's gonna be a hectic week next week bcoz I will be going out BUSH! into this remote area called borroloola for work...I dunoe what to expect and been told not to expect anything...all i know is that I will be performing some surveys and all...so will be good to learn...I simply cannot wait!! :)

Hey guys,

It's been exactly one week since I left the Gold Coast...I must say...it feels longer than that, but thats bcoz so many things have been happening, and so many changes to cope with...but nevertheless, I must say, I am just so blessed to be here....

As you all know, I have been looking for a flat to live in over the past week, and havent been able to concentrate and focus on my work, or pay much attention to what is happening around me, bcoz my mind has been so caught up with the whole house hunting thing...

Last Sunday, I went to church, and honestly, I was actually thinking of checking out another one closer to where I was, but I was offered a ride to this church that morning, so I went. I was introduced to this lady, who works at a school, she said she would help me to ask around about any available flats...Honestly, I did not expect anything, the next couple of days went on, and I had actually forgotten that I had spoken to her.. (snap, i Know...)

She sent me a txt yesterday and told me that one of her colleagues from school had a one bedroom fully furnished granny flat available, and I was so excited, because I knew that I did not have to go through agents (once again, I have been spared)...So I rang this Indian lady who had the house, and had a chance to view it today...

Before viewing the house, I was praying and asking God that He would give me a Christian family to live with...and the first thing this lady told me when I got into the car was..."I have been praying and asking God for His provisions..." and I was in shock, and I found out that she was a Christian too!!

How exciting guys, here, I have an awesome little one bedroom apartment, with a huge as TV and DVD player, and a double bed, and everything that I wanted and more...and its even better with a family that loves God too...

I am very excited and am anticipating my move this weekend into the house...

what can I say but PRAISE GOD!!! Surely He is the God of breakthroughs and deliverance... :)

I hope you are all encouraged by this. Don't give up even though everything around you may seem to be failing, God has a greater and better plan for you, and when it happens, you will know...

Royal Darwin Hospital - Remote Public Health Nutritionist...that is my title..hehe..I think its really funny how they say Remote - guess I am really in the JUNGLE!! The first couple of days have been major slack...It seems like its gonna be like that for the rest of the week...

My supervisor very kindly picked us (my colleague and I) up from our accommodation and then we juz did paperwork the whole morning...then in the arvo we got our admin officer to drive us into the town with the hospital car..and we had coffee while waiting for my ID card to be done...talk about slacking...

the next couple of days is orientation at the hospital....I survived day 1 thanks to me making friends..hehe...tomorrow we continue the battle...but it's all going to be good...

The adventure is only just beginning.... :)

Week 1 Darwin

I arrived at approx 1am on Thursday morning in Darwin. The heat shocked my system, and the airport smelt like Singapore. In fact, this whole place reminds me of home in terms of the coconut trees and all the greenery, and the TEMPERATURE and humidity. When the wind blows, it is not cold. You don't even need to use hot water to shower. The "wet" season was just over, so no more torrential rains till the end of the year! woot woot! but I hear that the mornings can be a little bit chilly as "winter" is around the corner...

I must say I have been very blessed to have Julie come with me...because arriving in the middle of the night in this area is a little bit scary I must say...we had the best couple of days together, going to the outdoor deckchair cinemas to watch a really cute Hindi movie...it was awesome! We literally walked the entire city of Darwin. The sunset is simply beautiful...

And there is only ONE mall here - and its the ONLY mall in the Territory...so I guess I will be making trips down to the east coast for clothes..hehe

I start work this Monday, so all very exciting..my first job - something that I have been praying for for a long long time...so I'm pumped! :)
